Education:

Received a B.S.N., New York Hospital School of Nursing, Cornell University, New York, New York in 1968

Received a M.S.N., Catholic University of America, Washington, DC in 1974

Career:

Brigadier General Adams received her ANC commission in 1968. Her overseas assignments included service in West Germany and Korea. During her tenure as Chief, she has guided the ANC through the turbulent period of post Cold War reorganization and downsizing while moving Army nursing practice and organizational structure into the 21st Century. She has received the Legion of Merit, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star Device, Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Defense Superior Service Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal among her awards and honors.  In 1998, while serving as the Commander of Tripler Army Medical Center; the Commander of the Pacific Regional Medical Command; United States Army Pacific Surgeon; and the Professional Filler Commander (PROFIS) of 18th Medical Command, Korea, she became the first Army nurse to be promoted to Major General.
