Education:

Graduated from Illinois Training School for Nurses, Chicago, Illinois, in 1888.

Career:

She participated as founder and as officer of all national nursing organizations of her era, and played major roles in the pioneer years of the nursing profession before she was selected to be the Third Superintendent of the Army Nurse Corps. She had tendered her resignation to take effect on 1 October 1914 due to failing health, but she died in office two weeks before her resignation was to take effect.
