Education:

Graduated from Corpus Christi Hospital School of Nursing, Corpus Christi, Texas in 1943

Received a B.B.N., Incarnate Word College, San Antonio, Texas in 1961

Received a M.H.A., Baylor University, Waco, Texas in 1965

Career:

Brigadier General Parks received her ANC commission in January 1944. She separated from the service in 1946 and reentered on active duty in May 1951. Her overseas assignments included service in India, Iran, Hawaii, and Vietnam. Under her tenure as Chief, the Army Nurse Corps Nursing Research Advisory Board was established to advise and assist the Chief in setting nursing research standards throughout the Army Medical Department. She received the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, and Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters among her awards and honors.
