- A through AM Includes Lieutenant Ellen Ainsworth who was one of four Army Nurses to earn the Silver Star during WWII. These were the first Silver Stars awarded to women in the Army during WW II.
- AN through AZ Captain Asahina trained with the famed 442d Regimental Combat Team at Camp Shelby but just before they were to ship out he and three other Doctors were picked to join other units. The others were Yukio Miyamoto, Isamu Ozamoto and Robert Kinoshita. Captain Kinoshita was a double recipient of the Silver Star for actions in WW II.
- BA through BI Includes PFC J. W. Blackwell who returned to evacuate a wounded comrade only to find the position occupied by the enemy. Read his unique citation. 1LT Ralph P. Baldini was a Dental Corps Officer.
- BL through BY PFC J. W. Blackwell returned to evacuate a wounded comrade only to find the position occupied by the enemy. Read his unique citation.
- C Includes Private First Class Charles Cartee who fearlessly performed the deeds that would earn him the Silver Star during a rescue deemed by many to be impossible.
- D Major William B. Dinneen, Dental Corps, is a double recipient of the Silver Star. Captain Joseph Cornwell was also a Dental Officer
- E Captain John Erbes, Medical Corps, earned the Silver Star an incredible 4 times during WW II. In addition, he earned the Distinguished Service Cross and the Bronze Star. He is quite possibly the most decorated AMEDD Soldier to date.
- F-G Technician Fifth Grade Henry Finseth evacuated casualties for nearly 60 hours over the course of 3 days. Technician Fifth Grade Joseph N. Gomez was part of the famed Merrill`s Marauders. Captain Louis H. Fletcher was a Dental Corps officer. First Lieutenant Clyde M. Fowler was a Medical Administrative Corps officer.
- H Private First Class Welbey Hatton performed a battlefield amputation in order to evacuate one of two casualties. Ultimately, he saved both of their lives.
- I-J In addition to the Silver Star, Technician Fourth Class Sinton Jones Jr was also awarded the Distinguished Service Cross. Private First Class Joph Ito, a medic with the famed 442nd Regimental Combat Team (Nisei Volunteers), raced across 150 yards of open terrain under sniper, machine gun and artillery fire to reach and treat 5 wounded comrades. Also on this page, one of only two known three-time recipients of the Combat Medic Badge, Technician Fifth Grade Henry Jenkins` first Silver Star citation. He earned his second in the Korean War. - K Private Robert Kalish was captured twice by the enemy. While a prisoner, he treated two seriously wounded comrades and negotiated their release, his release, and a vehicle to transport them to friendly lines. Captain John T. Kelly Jr. was a Dental Corps officer. CPT Robert S. Kinoshita is a double recipient of the Silver Star, double recipient of the Bronze Star with V device
- L Private First Class Vincent Lanasa, while under both friendly and enemy fire, persuaded an enemy aid station to surrender.
- M Although wounded, Technician Fifth Grade Tadao Miyamoto of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, made his way forward to treat 4 comrades. He then moved an additional 40 yards forward to treat and pull an enemy officer back to friendly territory. This produced an unexpected benefit. See his citation. Captain Cornelius Mahoney is one of only two known Army Soldiers to receive the Silver Star from the U.S. Navy in World War II. Captains John S. Martin and Paul H. Maurer were Dental Corps officers. First Lieutenants Philip St. John Moore Jr., Leonard Morris and Joseph McNeil were all Medical Administrative Corps officers.
- N- P Even after traumatic amputation of his left leg, Private James Orr continued to provide first aid to the wounded at the cost of his life. Second Lieutenant Leland S. Osmun, Medical Administrative Corps, earned the Silver Star twice, the first as a Staff Sergeant. First Lieutenant Edwin R. Pyle was a Medical Administrative Corps officer.
- Q-S Includes First Lieutenant Mary Roberts and Second Lieutenants Elaine Roe and Rita Virginia Rourke who were three of four Army Nurses to earn the Silver Star during WWII. These were the first Silver Stars awarded to women in the Army during WW II. Captain Alexander P. Suer, Dental Corps, received the Silver Star twice. Read his story in the AMEDD Historian. First Lieutenant Melvin Schneller, Medical Administrative Corps, is a double recipient of the Silver Star. 2LTs Charles W Rotzell and Carl W. Strohschein were Medical Administrative Corps officers. After treating an enemy Soldier, and although unarmed, Private First Class Miguel Ramirez entered an enemy dugout and convinced the occupants to surrender. Captain Mitchell Sack was a Dental Officer.
- T-V Technician Fifth Grade Karl Taylor rushed to the aid of two Soldiers he thought had been wounded by shell fire. It turned out they were in a mine field. He administered first aid and carried one man to safety, returned and rescued the second. 2LT Stephen E. Vosburgh was a Medical Administrative Officer.
- W-Z 1LT Thomas R. White was a Medical Corps doctor who volunteered for the Doolittle Raid on Japan in the early days of WW II. Read about his gallant exploits in the AMEDD Historian. Major Joeseph E. Walther, Medical Corps, earned his Silver Star during the Japanese attack on Midway Island in the Pacific. Private First Class Tom Yagi received the Silver Star for gallantry that extended over a period of 15 days.
