REORGANIZATION OF THE OFFICE OF THE SURGEON GENERAL

The committee which had been appointed by The Surgeon General, during the previous fiscal year, to consider changes in the organizational structure of the Office of The Surgeon General, its basic missions and functions, concluded its study during the early part of this fiscal year and made its recommendations to The Surgeon General. These recommendations, for a reorganization of the office under a directorate system, were approved, and implementing instructions were announced on 10 February 1961 with the issuance of OTSG Administrative Letter 10-4, Organization of the Office of The Surgeon General.
