Citation Narrative Needed:
By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962, and amended by Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962 and Executive Order 11382, 28 November 1967 the Bronze Star Medal with “V” device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an armed enemy is awarded to Corporal William Majors, Army Medical Department, United States Army distinguished himself for heroism in connection with military operations against a hostile force on 27 February 1991 on Jalibah Airfield in Southeast Iraq. For valor in the face of enemy fire on Jalibah Airfield in Southeast Iraq on 27 February 1991. Corporal Majors, The Chief Medic for Company C, 3rd Battalion, 15th Infantry, 24th Infantry Division (Mechanized), engaged and halted an enemy vehicle that has breached the Task Force formation. Corporal Majors further directed the movements of the Combat Trains and the medical treatment of eleven casualties including their speedy evacuation despite the threat to himself from dangerous direct and indirect fires. Corporal Major’s courage and commitment are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon him, this command and the United States Army.

To all who shall see these presents, Greeting: This is to certify that the President of the United States of America, Authorized by Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962, has awarded the Bronze Star Medal with “V” device to Private First Class Brent W. Phare for heroism in support of ground combat operations on 25 February 1991, while serving as medical specialist, Headquarters and Headquarters Company 1st Battalion, 41st Infantry Regiment (2D Armored Division), 1st Infantry Division (Mechanized), Operation Desert Storm. While under enemy fire, his heroic actions and courage were key to the flawless execution of the unit’s mission: The destruction of the Iraqi ground forces and the liberation of Kuwait. Private First Class Phare’s unwavering courage and competence are in keeping with the proudest traditions of the military service and reflects great credit upon himself, the 1st Infantry Division (Mechanized), and the United States Army.

By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962, and amended by Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962 and Executive Order 11382, 28 November 1967 the Bronze Star Medal with “V” device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an armed enemy is awarded to Specialist Matthew L. Starkey, Army Medical Department, United States Army distinguished himself for heroism in connection with military operations against a hostile force on 27 February 1991 in Iraq. For heroism in the face of the enemy during Operation Desert Storm from 26 February through 27 February 1991 in the country of Iraq. Specialist Starkey distinguished himself by completely disregarding his own safety to rescue Soldiers wounded by enemy fire. He quickly and skillfully maneuvered his ambulance to the stricken tanks then dismounted under heavy enemy RPG and Artillery fire to traat the wounded Soldiers. He directed treatment and evacuation of the Soldiers and calmly drove them back from the fire to safety. Specialist Starkey’s performance reflects great credit upon him, the 3d Armored Division, and the United States Army.
